Hidden Beach in South Bali
I know the existence of Tegal Wangi Beach Jimbaran since 2005; at that time, I was invited by a local friend from Jimbaran to go fishing. At that time, I found not many tourists knew about Tegal Wangi Beach Jimbaran. The visitor who visited the Tegal Wangi Beach in 2005 were local people who liked fishing. As well as a few professional photographers who were doing prewedding photoshoot sessions.
Beach attractions on the island of Bali are widely known by tourists during 2005, such as; Jimbaran beach, Kuta beach, Legian beach, and Mengiat Nusa Dua beach. Because the location of the Tegal Wangi Jimbaran beach is not widely known, making Tegal Wangi Beach often also called the Jimbaran Hidden Beach.
In 2006, Tegal Wangi Beach Jimbaran began to be distinguished by many professional photographers to conduct pre-wedding photo sessions. Vehicle Parking Area
My visit early this year, I saw a different impression from the Tegal Wangi Beach Jimbaran that I used to know. The condition of the street heading to the beach is still the same. But when I arrived at the cliff location, now I found a long stretch of brick wall covering the area of the cliff.
Between the walls, there is an iron gate for car access. If the gate is open, you can park the vehicle with parking fees. When I visited, I parked outside the wall area because the gate closed.

Beautiful View of the South Sea from the Cliffs
Before setting your foot on the Tegal Wangi beach shoreline, you can see an ocean panoramic view with green trees from the edges cliff. You are also able to see the Ayana Resort and Rock Bar from this cliff.

Road Access From The Cliff To The Beach
Even though Tegal Wangi beach now gets many tourist visits, I still consider the beach as of of the best-hidden beaches in Bali. Due to the number of visitors as not as crowded as in Petitenget Beach Seminyak.
From the top of the cliff, to reach the shoreline, you have to walk down a steep limestone footpath. The limestone footpath is not long, about twenty meters. After you steep down the limestone footpath, you will be able to set your foot on the beach sand.
View of the Beach Shoreline
When you arrive at the Tegal Wangi beach shoreline, on the left side, you will see a high limestone cliff. While on the right side, you will see waves combine turquoise water, white sand, which is a little rough but comfortable on the feet.

From the location of the rock pool, you walk to the end of the beach. At the far end of the beach, you will find a small cave under a cliff. The caveat Tegal Wangi beach is not deep or dark because it only has a length span of approximately 6 meters.
Sunset at Tegal Wangi Beach Jimbaran
Sunset views are the main attraction of Tegal Wangi Beach. If the weather is sunny, the sight of the sunset from Tegal Wangi beach is breathtaking. You can see the sunset from the cliff or the beach. For me, seeing the sunset from the cliff is far better than seeing the evening from the edge of the beach.

Visitor Activities At Tegal Wangi Beach, Jimbaran
Most of the visitor activities are relaxing, and some are sitting by the beach, some are sitting on a cliff adjacent to the shoreline. The favorite sitting spot is in the beach cave area.
At Tegal Wangi Beach, no one rents sundeck with umbrellas, as you find on the Padang-Padang beach. Therefore, in the afternoon, when the sun is still hot, many visitors choose to sit in the area in the cave so they can take shelter.
In addition to tourists, I also saw several photographers conducting prewedding sessions against the background of the cliffs. The photographer also uses the crashing waves, and sunset scenery as the photo background.
Frequently Asked Questions
If you want to see sunset views at Tegal Wangi beach, then the best time to visit is around 16:30. Sunset time in Bali starts from 17:30 – 18:30, depending on the sun position. If you want a calmer beach atmosphere, then it’s good to visit in the morning, because the beach is tranquil in the morning.
I don’t recommend Tegal Wangi beach for swimming because the waves are quite large, and there are a lot of rocks around the beach shoreline area.
In addition to paying attention to visiting times, you should also pay attention to tides. I do not recommend you go down to the beach when there are big waves and tides. Because the area of the beach not exposed to water, it becomes small.
I once experienced being hit by a big wave when I was at the edge of Tegal Wangi beach, which made my chest hit the cliff. So, if during your visit, the tide occurs, stay on the cliff, don’t go down to the beach.
